Driver Breaks All 10 Commandments at Once

State of Oklahoma

Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating after a driver crashed into a monument of the 10 Commandments at the state capitol.

"This person or persons drove onto the capitol grounds, struck the monument — destroying it — and then fled the scene," said Capt. George Brown.

It happened around 7 p.m. Thursday, and the suspect left the car on the north lawn. OHP has the car in impound.

Brown said anyone with information that could lead to an arrest should contact local authorities or call OHP's public affairs office at 405-425-7709.

The pieces of the 6-foot tall granite monument have been taken to a storage facility. Rep. Mike Ritze paid for the monument, which was placed on the north side of the capitol in November 2012.
